Welcome to Luther Burbank Middle School

At the Luther Burbank Middle School, we join together in partnership with our community to foster life-long curiosity and love for learning. Our collective purpose is to build wisdom, knowledge, respect, responsibility, and compassion by engaging the head, hands, and heart of each one of our students. We embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and we hold high expectations for all learners so that each may achieve to his or her fullest potential.                            ~ Laura Friend, Principal

Principal's Message

arrowsPrincipal's Update
As I walk through our hallways and into classrooms, I continue to be impressed by the level of enthusiasm and commitment for learning I am able to observe. Each day, I observe our teachers’ efforts to develop and implement rigorous, yet creative, lessons that foster true student engagement. As a result, I observe students involved in academic discourse, problem-solving, reading, and critical thinking. Examples of these efforts are observable in each content area—at each grade level. Too numerous to articulate, but worthy of note in just the past two weeks, include: roundtable text-based discussions in 6th grade ELA, project-based learning focused on cell organisms in grade 7, and social studies simulations related to the Constitutional Convention in grade 8. If your child has yet to share these experiences with you, please ask them to “do tell!”
