Welcome to Luther Burbank Middle School

At the Luther Burbank Middle School, we join together in partnership with our community to foster life-long curiosity and love for learning. Our collective purpose is to build wisdom, knowledge, respect, responsibility, and compassion by engaging the head, hands, and heart of each one of our students. We embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and we hold high expectations for all learners so that each may achieve to his or her fullest potential.                            ~ Laura Friend, Principal

Our state-wide assessment window is upon us. Through April 12th, our students will be involved in the English language arts state assessment (MCAS). This testing offers us an excellent opportunity for our students to show just how capable they are by demonstrating all that they have learned throughout the school year. Last week, our eighth graders took their assessment online using their Chromebooks, while our 6th and 7th grade students participated in paper-based testing. We had minimal issues with the online testing platform. While the testing platform was new for all of us, everything ran seamlessly thanks to the concerted efforts of our student and faculty and the additional support of our instructional technology specialist, Mr. Newton, and our district IT team.
