Welcome to Luther Burbank Middle School

At the Luther Burbank Middle School, we join together in partnership with our community to foster life-long curiosity and love for learning. Our collective purpose is to build wisdom, knowledge, respect, responsibility, and compassion by engaging the head, hands, and heart of each one of our students. We embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and we hold high expectations for all learners so that each may achieve to his or her fullest potential.                            ~ Laura Friend, Principal

Principal's Message

arrowsPrincipal's Update
A huge thank you to all of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to participate in our parent teacher conferences last week. We had a very strong presence at each grade level. In fact, 77 % of our families turned out for conferences. This is an increase in participation from last year. Incredible. A true testament to the commitment of our community, and we couldn’t be more thankful for your partnership. Thank you. Soon, the first trimester will be drawing to a close. During parent teacher conferences you likely discussed your child’s current performance. In December, your child will receive his/her first trimester report card which will further serve to document your child’s progress. More importantly, your child’s report card will document strengths and areas for continued growth. I often talk about looking upon areas of growth and challenge, with students and adults alike, as opportunities. As Benjamin Franklin so aptly stated: “Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” And, isn’t that what it’s all about?
