Welcome to Luther Burbank Middle School

At the Luther Burbank Middle School, we join together in partnership with our community to foster life-long curiosity and love for learning. Our collective purpose is to build wisdom, knowledge, respect, responsibility, and compassion by engaging the head, hands, and heart of each one of our students. We embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and we hold high expectations for all learners so that each may achieve to his or her fullest potential.                            ~ Laura Friend, Principal

arrowsPrincipal's Update
This week’s edition of the Burbank Bulletin will close out the school year. And, what a great year it has been. I am tremendously proud of the accomplishments of our staff and students. This year, we introduced two new programs to support our school’s collective mission. We added a new technology class, Innovation Lab (i-Lab), to our 6th and 7th grader’s schedule. This class has been hugely popular with our students, not to mention beneficial in teaching them important and innovative technology-related skills. We also added an advisory program for all students in grades 6-8. The implementation of advisory for us at the middle level has marked an important step in meeting the rapidly developing social and emotional needs of our adolescent students. Feedback from teachers and students on advisory has also been positive, proving advisory is working to strengthen our already strong and positive school climate. In addition to our new curricular programming, this year also brought new enrichment and support opportunities for students. We have added a Green Team, Gay Straight Alliance, and video production “company”, LBTV, to our after school offerings. These offerings have complemented our current enrichment program and have provided additional opportunities for our students as we work to meet their diverse needs and interests. Next year, we will look to even further expand our programming and offerings for students. I am already looking forward to all of the growth, academic and otherwise, next year will bring.
