HEALTH OFFICE HAPPENINGS Mrs. Heslin RN, BSN, CRRN

Greetings from the health office! Please call the health office with any absence or tardiness due to illness, vacation, and orthodontic appointments, medical or dental appointments. This will enable me to track students attendance more effectively and detect problems sooner rather than later. You can also email me with appointment dates ahead of time at dheslin@nrsd.net.
Please report your child’s absence from school for any reason to the health office at 978-365-5629 or 978-365-4558 ext.3112 by 8:00 am on the day of the absence.

The Luther Burbank Middle School has been granted funds for the next year through the Healthy Choices Grant funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield. This is a continuation of the 5-2-1 Go! Campaign initiated 3 years ago in conjunction with the Planet Health curriculum. The goal of the program is to help students develop a healthier lifestyle promoting proper nutrition, increased physical activity and less screen time. We encourage 5 fruits and vegetables a day, 2 hours of screen time per day and 1 hour of physical activity daily.

With the funding we have been able to purchase equipment for the fitness room which is located off the gym, invest in books and videos for the health curriculum, and create positions for after school intramural sports in the winter months. The fitness room is open to all students with parental permission forms available in the main office. It is open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:15-3pm with my supervision.  I look forward to promoting the health and wellness of all students, staff and the community.
