The Luther Burbank Middle School yearbook committee, directed by Mr. Freda, is charged with the task of creating a whole-school yearbook to be completed and distributed by the last day of the school year. The yearbook was at one time only intended for the 8th grade graduating class, but in the 2000/2001 school year the format was changed to include all middle school grades. The yearbook committee is selected by a random drawing of candidates from each grade who work together in a variety of roles. The committee is broken down into three groups: A) The Layout Team - conducts a cover contest; collects content; designs pages; enters text and photos into QuarkExpress files. B) The Photography Team - photographs activities; scans photos; formats and catalogs images; creates a yearbook Photo-CD.
C) The Liaison Team - coordinates communications between the yearbook committee and students/teachers in homerooms for submitting information for the yearbook. Quark Express is the software used to create our yearbooks which contain over 100 black and white pages with colorful covers. The finished product is sent in an electronic format to Dunn & Company, of Clinton, Massachusetts for publishing. In addition to the school yearbook, our committee also produces an annual Photo-CD containing over 2,000 color images taken for the yearbook. Many of these photos were never used in the yearbook and the Photo-CD is sold as a yearbook supplement. |
