Best Buddies

The Best Buddies program at Luther Burbank was one of the first officially chartered middle school chapters, dedicated to establishing mutually enriching one-to-one friendships to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Best Buddies was founded as an organization in 1989, and now includes more than 1400 chapters across the world. We are proud to be part of the Best Buddies International organization.

Our Best Buddies chapter assists in facilitating mutually rewarding friendships between students with special needs and their middle school peers, by holding monthly activities after school. Best Buddies will meet on the second Wednesday of each month, with two exceptions, where the group will meet on an alternate week (April 15th and June 3rd). The activities are held from 2:15-3:10 in Mrs. Lonardo’s classroom (D-136). The first whole chapter activity will be held on Wednesday, October 9. Sign-ups have started on-line at www.bestbuddiesonline.org. Students may begin participating in Best Buddies when a signed application has been submitted. Additionally, parents are required to complete an Extracurricular Activity Registration Form that should be returned to Mrs. Lonardo. These are located outside of our classroom.

Meeting dates: 10/9, 11/13, 12/11, 1/8, 2/12, 3/11, 4/15, 5/13, 6/3
